Who’s ready to ruck? The 2015 RBS 6 Nations Championship is underway, with England, France, Ireland, Italy, Scotland and Wales battling for regional supremacy ahead of this summer’s Rugby World Cup. But instead of talking England’s injuries woes or Ireland’s prospects of repeating, we wanted to preview the tournament with what we know best.
We’ve compiled our European private equity data to see how these rugby heavyweights would compare when it comes to PE/VC investments, exits and more. To no surprise, England stacks up as the favorite in the data, as its 1,117 deals and €72.3 billion of capital invested last year were more than double that of the next best team: France, with 463 deals and €28 billion invested. Italy may not have won a game in last year’s tournament, and might also be lowest of the six in the world rankings, but €11.8 billion in capital invested makes the country far less of a PE underdog in this field.
