Strategics have spent over $792 billion since the start of 4Q 2014, with over $400 billion of that coming in 1Q.
Financial buyers experienced a noticeable dip in percentage of overall M&A activity in 1Q, even as PE deal flow has remained relatively consistent over the past two years.
Led by a massive surge in the already-huge healthcare industry, the number of $5 billion+ deals has already surpassed the total of the first three quarters of 2014.
The healthcare industry saw $200 billion worth of deals in the first quarter, 41% of total deal activity.
