You may have read about the PitchBook Platform on this blog or in our daily newsletter, but have you seen it in action?
This step-by-step video walkthrough of the PitchBook Platform shows how you can increase deal flow by finding the most active business intermediaries and investment banks in your market. The PitchBook Platform lets you quickly and easily generate a list of service providers in order for you to enhance your business and any upcoming engagements.
Let’s get started. From the main dashboard, hover over the Advisors advanced search tab.
The first thing to do is to define your search criteria. The PitchBook Platform has a preset template for an investment banks and advisory firms search. Clicking it will automatically fill in Financing Advisories, Business Intermediaries, and Investment Banks, as the advisors we are interested in.
Next, let’s match an industry and geographic region to our area of focus. Let’s look for companies located in the Bay Area and specializing in the Business Products and Services space. You can get much more granular using keywords and sub industries if you wish, but for this example we will stick with the overall B2B space.
Now we are ready to run our search.
As quickly as that, PitchBook brings back 160 business intermediaries, financing advisories and investment banks that have advised companies on deals in the Bay Area, in the Business Products and Services industry.
On this page, we can view the full list of service providers, ranked by deal activity. We can see their name, primary service provider type, deals, companies, investors and contact information. You can hover over any of their names to provide a brief snapshot of the company, or you can click through on any of these potential targets to see in-depth profile information.
Let’s look at JP Morgan. When we click on their 20 Serviced Deals, this takes us to a more detailed page showing all deal information. From here, you can see important metrics such as Deal Size, Valuation, Revenue and Primary Industry Code.
Looking back on our initial results page, you will find that every list in PitchBook is customizable. You can add columns to show more information, drag and drop to reorder the columns, and sort your list.
Click Download to easily export any list into Excel. And here’s your formatted target list.
