Private equity investors have made 547 deals in Canada since the beginning of 2008, according to the PitchBook Platform. Deal activity bounced back in 2011 after bottoming out at 88 deals in 2009. Activity in the Great White North picked up to 96 deals in 2010 and 127 in 2011, before ebbing back down to 95 deals last year. Considering provinces, Ontario has brought in the most deals since 2008, accounting for 42% of the activity, followed by Alberta (20%). B2B and B2C deals accounted for almost half of the activity (30% and 19%, respectively).
