Leeds Equity Partners has taken Nobel Learning Communities (NASDAQ: NLCI) private in a $149 million transaction. The PE firm paid Nobel Learning stockholders $11.75 per share, a 22% premium of the 90-day average stock price prior to the deal announcement. A $15 million term loan was provided by Prospect Capital in support of the deal. Nobel Learning operates private preschools, elementary schools, middle schools and K-12 online distance learning.
Since the beginning of 2009, PE investors have invested in 70 companies primarily involved in the Education & Training Services industry, according to the PitchBook Platform. Anchored by add-on acquisitions, 2011's deal count is closing in on last year's final total of 21.
