After Raising Seven Funds, OVP Venture Partners Closing Down
October 12, 2012
"NOTE: We are not currently accepting business plans," states the homepage of OVP Venture Partners, a Kirkland, Wash.-based firm closing down its operations after nearly three decades of venture capital investment. The firm formed its first fund in 1983 and has raised a total of seven funds over the years. OVP focused on cleantech, digital biology and IT, and made most of its investments in Washington, California and Oregon. A few partners are sticking around to manage portfolio companies from the firm's final fund, OVP Venture Partners VII, which closed on over $250 million in 2006 and recently invested in Seattle-based biotechs Oncofactor and Viral Logic Systems Technology.
