Airware, a universal development platform for commercial drones, has raised $10.7 million in a Series A round of funding led by Andreessen Horowitz. Google Ventures also invested in the round. The Newport Beach, CA-based company develops autopilots for micro to mid-sized fixed-wing, helicopter, multiple-rotor and custom configuration unmanned aerial systems. The funding will help Airware expand its team, meet customer and market demand, and scale for future growth. Andreessen Horowitz partner Chris Dixon will join the company’s Board.
