A wider look at education deals in Asia, Central America, South America and Africa reveals 2014 is on pace to be one of the more active years since 2007, according to the PitchBook Platform. Capital invested is quite high, as well, skewed and bolstered simultaneously by St. George's growth funding and GIC's acquisition of a stake in Abril Educação. The majority of deals since the start of 2007 have been in Asia (70%), led by India (33%) and China (26%). Also, Baring has been quite busy in the space with three investments, tied for the most with The Carlyle Group, which had been rumored to be interested in acquiring an Abril Educação stake earlier this year.
