Bausch + Lomb, a New York-based eye care company owned by Warburg Pincus and Welsh, Carson, Anderson & Stowe, has filed to raise $100 million in an initial public offering. Bausch + Lomb offers eye health products like contact lenses, eye wash, allergy/redness relief and related products. Warburg Pincus led the acquisition to take the company private for approximately $4.5 billion in October 2007. Warburg Pincus owns an approximate 87.1% stake in the company, with WCAS owning about 11.1%. The company expects to use a substantial portion of its net proceeds from the offering to repay debt.
