NatureBox, a subscription-based healthy snack delivery service, has raised $18 million in new funding led by Canaan Partners, with participation from existing investors General Catalyst and Softbank Capital. The company, which adds Canaan's Warren Lee to its Board as part of the transaction, has now raised over $28 million in funding. A 2013 $8.5 million Series A round led by General Catalyst valued NatureBox at $18 million at the time.
The health snack craze is in full effect and it has definitely caught the attention of VC investors. In the past couple of years, a number of snack food subscription services have popped up, and several have landed venture funding. These healthy-snack-slinging companies include Love With Food, Boxtera and Conscious Box.
