Capital Invested in Systems & Info Management Space on the Rise

Since the beginning of 2009, VC investors have invested in 177 U.S.-headquartered systems & information management companies, adding up to nearly $2.6 billion in total capital invested in the space, according to the PitchBook Platform. Total invested capital in the industry each year has increased during that timeframe, more than tripling from $295 million in 2009 to $937 million in 2012. Contributing to last year’s heavy activity in the space were financings for Joyent and Donuts, which raised $85 million and $80 million, respectively.
