Carlyle Hires Barrett Karr to Head Government Affairs

Barrett Karr, a staff director with the U.S. House Committee on Education and the Workforce, will join The Carlyle Group in March as a principal in the Global External Affairs Group, where she will head the firm's U.S. government affairs. In her new position, she will provide insights, analysis and strategy to the firm, its funds and its portfolio companies. Before beginning her work with the U.S. House Committee in 2009, Ms. Karr was deputy assistant for Legislative Affairs to former President George W. Bush.
