December 21, 2015
The Carlyle Group has entered into exclusive discussions to acquire a majority controlling stake in Saverglass alongside management from Astorg. The company has reportedly been valued at roughly €560 million. Founded in 1897, Saverglass is a high-end producer of bottles and carafes for the premium spirit, fine wine and perfume markets. The company, backed by Astorg since 2011, sells 400,000 tons of glass per year in more than 80 countries. Carlyle would invest in Saverglass through Carlyle Europe Partners IV, which closed on €3.75 billion earlier this year.
