Carlyle to Back Brazil's Largest Private Hospital Operator

The Carlyle Group has agreed to make an investment in Rede D'Or São Luiz, the largest private hospital operator in Brazil. Expected to close in 2Q, the deal is reportedly worth R$1.75 billion ($600 million). Proceeds from the transaction will support Rede D'Or’s growth plans, including the construction of new hospitals, expansion of existing facilities and the financing of new acquisitions. Founded in 1977, Rede D'Or has over 33,000 employees and 85,000 affiliated doctors; the company is said to have had R$5.5 billion in revenue and R$930 million in EBITDA last year.
