Univar completed its IPO yesterday, listing on the NYSE under the ticker UNVR and raising $770 million in the process. The offering included 35 million shares priced at $22 each, with 20 million of those shares being sold by the company and the remainder being offered by existing shareholders. Shares of the chemical distributor closed yesterday's trading session up approximately 15.5% at $25.40, garnering a market cap of about $3.5 billion. The company's PE backers include CVC Capital Partners (52.2% pre-IPO stake) and Clayton, Dubilier & Rice (40.5%). CVC had backed the company since 2007 while CD&R made its initial investment in 2010.
