Charterhouse Capital Partners has agreed to buy Skillsoft for reportedly north of $2 billion. The transaction is said to value the company at about $2.3 billion, including debt. Charterhouse's winning bid ends an auction in which Providence Equity Partners was hot on its heels with a $2 billion bid. Skillsoft, which provides cloud-based learning courseware to over 6,000 customers with more than 19 million learners worldwide, will remain headquartered in Dublin. Sellers Advent International, Berkshire Partners and Bain Capital took Skillsoft private in 2010 for around $1.1 billion, and could reap a 3x return from the deal, according to reports.
