Chemicals a Major Ingredient for Materials and Resources Exits
September 21, 2012
Since the beginning of 2007, PE investors have sold or taken public 123 U.S. companies primarily involved in the Materials & Resources industry, according to the PitchBook Platform. The Chemicals & Gases sector has led that exit flow, accounting for over a third (36%) of the activity. PE firms have also found a lot of success exiting Containers & Packaging and Metals, Minerals & Mining companies, as those two sectors each account for a 24% share. Overall, the Materials & Resources industry is having a solid year in terms of exit activity with 20 exits completed in 2012 to date—already one more than last year's final tally.
