Comprehend, a provider of cloud-based clinical data insights, has secured $21 million in Series B financing led by Lightspeed Venture Partners, with participation from existing investor Sequoia Capital. Lightspeed partner Peter Nieh has joined the company’s Board of Directors. Comprehend aims to improve the way clinical researchers access, understand, explore and analyze data, enabling data managers, monitors and clinical operations executives to identify broad operational and clinical trends across trials and report on a wide range of factors, including safety issues, regulatory requirements and opportunities for critical time and cost savings.
The company last raised $8.5 million of Series A funding at a $19 million valuation in July 2013. It will use the new capital to expand its product development and customer solutions teams to further develop its business intelligence solution.
