Coursera Raises $49.5M in First Close of $60M Series C

Online learning platform Coursera has raised $49.5 million in a first closing of its Series C financing; the company expects a second closing early in the fall that will bring its total Series C funding to $60 million. Existing investor New Enterprise Associates led the investment and was joined by Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, among others. Founded in 2012, Coursera offers 1,100 courses in topics ranging from computer science to psychology. The company previously raised a $63 million Series B funding round in 2013 that generated a valuation of $367 million.
