September 10, 2014
Dining and entertainment company Dave & Buster’s, backed by Oak Hill Capital Partners, has filed to go public on the NASDAQ under the symbol PLAY. Founded in 1982, Dave & Buster's is an owner and operator of 69 establishments in North America that provide food and drinks along with an assortment of entertainment attractions centered on playing games and watching live sports and other televised events. Oak Hill acquired it for $570 million in May 2010, and a previous attempt to take the company public in 2011 was withdrawn the following year. Dave & Buster’s, reportedly on the auction block earlier this year, was publicly traded on the NYSE from 1997 to 2006. Other restaurant groups that have gone public this year include El Pollo Loco and Potbelly.
