While Seattle is no Silicon Valley, startups in the area do land formidable financings every now and then. Since 2007, a respectable 329 VC investors have invested in companies headquartered in Washington state, according to the PitchBook Platform. Up until Donuts' recent $100 million round, though, the massive funding hadn't really rained down for a few years. Now, the evergreen state is newly awash with big funding, harkening back to the good old days of 2007, when Seattle-based Imperium Renewables and Bellevue-based Motricity secured $214 million and $185 million rounds, respectively. The total capital raised to date this year—just over $391 million—has already surpassed 2009's total of nearly $374 million and is in good standing to potentially shoot above the last couple years as well. Let it pour!
