eSentire, a network security provider, has raised CA$14 million ($12.7 million) in Series C funding led by Georgian Partners, with participation from Cisco Investments and Northleaf Venture Catalyst Fund as well as existing investors Edison Partners and VentureLink. eSentire provides its security technology to more than 450 legal, extractive and healthcare organizations as well as financial service firms, focusing on active threat protection against advanced cyber threats. Proceeds from the funding will be used in part to expand its services into new sectors including IP-based markets such as technology and bio-pharma.
Since the beginning of 3Q, 34 software security providers worldwide have received funding. Just last week, Veracode raised a $40 million VC round at a reported valuation of nearly $500 million.
