The majority of startup/VC attention goes to Silicon Valley, but there are many other places around the world with burgeoning entrepreneurship communities. Europe plays host to more than a handful of emerging tech hubs; London, Berlin and Stockholm all quickly come to mind.
Since the start of last year, 811 European VCs have participated in at least one of the 2,680 venture deals completed across the continent, according to the PitchBook Platform. UK startups accounted for the largest portion of deals (29%), followed by Germany (15%), France (13%) and Sweden (6%). Seed financings made up almost half of all deals, a notably larger proportion than the US. Of the 423 European investors active in the last six months, 43 have completed at least five deals during the timeframe.
