Inspired by this hefty pair of deals, we decided to source the PitchBook Platform for more on U.S. PE-backed public-to-private buyouts. In 1Q 2016, PE investors closed nine take-private deals, a figure that's flat QoQ and a slight dip from the 11 transactions completed in 1Q 2015. Total capital invested, however, reached about $31 billion in 1Q, a 14.5% increase QoQ and 47% jump YoY. The $14 billion Keurig deal certainly moved the needle, but 2Q seems on a similar track. PE firms have invested almost $20 billion through public-to-private deals so far this quarter, nearly double the total from 2Q 2015.
