Continuing the trend of VC investment in fashion sites, Goodwater Capital has led a $15 million Series B round in Frank & Oak, an online menswear brand company. The investment received participation from a contingent of investors including Real Ventures, Rho Canada Ventures and Version One Ventures, among others. Frank & Oak's last announced round was a $5 million Series A in 2012, but it has grown its community to over 1.5 million members and logged 225,000+ app downloads.
In August, JustFab, Strut, BaubleBar and a host of other sites received VC financings. Rather than simply setting up a site with different options for users to look through, sites such as Frank & Oak and JustFab are having users customize profiles so that personal shoppers can help send each user personalized style options. Trunk Club, which uses a similar strategy, was acquired by Nordstrom this summer for $350 million.
