Launched in 2010, Gogobot has seen more than 16 million people use its social travel site in the last year to search for and discover over 60,000 destinations worldwide. The company has announced it raised $20 million in Series C funding led by HomeAway, bringing its investment total to $39 million from backers that also include Battery Ventures, CrunchFund and Redpoint Ventures. Through the site, travelers can join social groups that cater to those who travel in a similar fashion—e.g. outdoor enthusiasts, foodies, luxury travelers, backpackers—in order to discover new places they would enjoy. Each destination contains reviews, hotel and restaurant lists, a Q&A section and more. In its two previous rounds, Gogobot's valuation jumped from $17 million in its $4 million Series A (2010) to $85 million at the time of its $15 million Series B (2011).
