GTCR has taken Vocus (NASDAQ: VOCS) private for $446.5 million ($18 per share) in cash. The deal's share price was a 48% premium over the last trading day prior to the announcement. In addition, GTCR acquired all of Vocus' Series A stock, including a portion held by JMI Equity, for its stated value of $77.3 million.
Vocus provides cloud-based marketing and public relations software, and has more than 16,000 annual subscription customers. It went public in 2005 in a $45 million IPO, after collecting several financings from Edison Ventures, JMI Equity, Sterling Partners and Lazard Technology Partners, among others.
