GTCR's Sterigenics to Take Nordion Private for $727M

GTCR's Sterigenics has agreed to acquire Nordion (NYSE: NDZ), a provider of health science products and services, for about $727 million. Shareholders will receive $11.75 per share, an approximate 12% premium. Post-transaction, Nordion will operate as a standalone company within Sterigenics under the Nordion name.
Nordion provides medical isotopes and sterilization technology used in more than 40 countries by pharmaceutical and biotech companies, medical-device makers and hospitals, among others. In a similar vein, Sterigenics provides outsourced contract sterilization services; it was bought by GTCR for $675 million in 2011 from Silverfleet Capital and PPM America Capital Partners.
