Hipmunk, a flight and hotel booking site, has received a $20 million Series C financing led by Oak Investment Partners. The funding brings the total amount raised by the company to around $39 million, and will be used for accelerating its cross-platform strategy, hiring, customer acquisition and partnership efforts. Existing investors Ignition Partners and Institutional Venture Partners also participated in the round.
Founded in 2010 and launched out of Y Combinator, the site offers travel searches for options ranging from commercial flights, trains and charter flights to hotels and vacation rentals through Airbnb and HomeAway. Hipmunk last raised $14 million in Series B funds in 2012, a round that valued the company at almost $62 million.
