IBM (NYSE: IBM) has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Cleversafe, a developer and manufacturer of object-based storage software and appliances. Once the deal closes, IBM will integrate the Cleversafe portfolio into its IBM Cloud business unit. Founded in 2004, Cleversafe has raised roughly $100 million in VC funding, last securing a $56 million Series D round in August 2013 at a $207 million valuation. Existing investors include Alsop Louie Partners, New Enterprise Associates and Presidio Ventures. The deal is expected to close later this year.
