Iconix Rocks Lee Cooper Brand, Takes Off Sun Capital's Hands

Branded denim label Lee Cooper, a portfolio company of Sun European Partners and The 180 Degree Group, has been sold to Iconix Brand Group (NASDAQ: ICON) for $72 million in cash. The acquired company owns and licenses a number of clothing brands, including Rocawear, Candie's, London Fog and Ed Hardy. Sun and 180 partnered with Emerisque Capital to carve the company in 2005 from Matalan for £30.5 ($46.2 million). Emerisque found its exit in 2008. Founded in 1908, Lee Cooper makes clothing and accessories for multiple lifestyle categories, including men's and women's casual wear, footwear and accessories; its products are sold in over 80 countries, predominantly in Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
