Online business lending marketplace Funding Circle has raised $65 million in Series D financing led by Index Ventures, with participation from existing investors Accel Partners, Union Square Ventures and Ribbit Capital. The company will use the funds to expand product ranges and explore new international markets. In total, Funding Circle has raised about $123 million in equity since its founding in 2010. It raised a $37 million Series C round late last year, at the same time partnering with San Francisco-based Endurance Lending Network, which led Funding Circle's launch into the U.S. market. Its platform is exclusively focused on small business loans. It directly connects people and organizations who want to lend with vetted, established businesses who want to borrow, giving those businesses the opportunity to purchase a loan of between $25,000 and $500,000 in term from three to five years. Since its founding, Funding Circle has originated more than $500 million of small business loans globally.
