IQ Engines, a Berkeley, CA-based provider of image recognition software, has been acquired by Yahoo! (NASDAQ: YHOO). The company’s technology can identify virtually any image or object, label and categorize that object, and enable instant searches for relevant information based on the data. IQ Engines’ staff will join the Flickr team at Yahoo! The company has raised $4.8 million in funding to date from exiting investors including Motorola Solutions Venture Capital and Third Point Ventures.
