Remember when Big Data company Cloudera just recently landed a massive $160 million in funding? Well, the company just announced a $900 million round of financing (which includes the previous $160 million) at a reported $4.1 billion valuation. Investors in the mind-boggling round include T. Rowe Price, Google Ventures, MSD Capital and Intel, which bit off an 18% stake with a $740 million investment.
Cloudera provides enterprise analytic data management powered by Apache Hadoop, an open-source software system that can sort and handle massive amounts of data generated through the Internet and mobile devices. The company, which has now raised over $1 billion in total funding, last raised a $65.5 million Series E round at a $649 million valuation in December 2012. Additional Cloudera backers include Greylock Partners, Ignition Partners, In-Q-Tel and Meritech Capital Partners.
