Looking for Good Deals, Winklevoss Twins Find Hukkster
November 15, 2012
Hukkster, a New York-based shopping site that tells shoppers when their desired online merchandise drops in price, announced it has raised $1 million in seed funding, led by a $750,000 investment from the Winklevoss twins. Hukkster notifies its users whenever an item they've tagged for future purchase goes on sale or gets a price drop, taking a small referral fee for each sale. The startup, founded by former J. Crew merchandisers, has partnered with several department stores, watching its user base grow from about 600 when it launched in May to over 10,000 through November.
