Mivisa Envases, a portfolio company of The Blackstone Group and N+1 Mercapital, is being acquired by Crown Holdings (NYSE: CCK) in a cash transaction valued at €1.2 billion ($1.7 billion). Citigroup provided committed financing for the sale. Mivisa is a Spanish manufacturer of two- and three-piece food cans and ends. Blackstone and N+1 bought the company from CVC Capital Partners in 2011, beating out other bidders like Apollo Global Management, The Carlyle Group and, among others, Crown Holdings. Mivisa reportedly paid out a €185 million ($254.7 million) dividend to its shareholders earlier this year after overcoming resistance from lenders to add more debt to the company.
