No Learning Curve: Educational Software & Services Deals on a Straight Rise
April 29, 2013
For the most part, the education system in America has been as traditional as apple pie; however, that’s quickly changing. Education is becoming more accessible, more affordable and more diverse, and many new companies are sprouting up as the system changes. Since the beginning of 2009, VC investors have funded 192 U.S.-headquartered educational software & services companies, according to the PitchBook Platform. The number of deals completed in the sector each year has increased, more than doubling from 46 financings in 2009 to 112 in 2012. Lynda.com scored the largest financing in that timeframe, raising a whopping $103 million in a single round.
