Outplay Entertainment, a developer of free-to-play mobile games, has raised a $5 million funding round led by Oxford Capital, with participation from existing investors Pentech Ventures and Scottish Investment Bank. The company focuses on creating high quality, highly engaging titles across all major platforms (Apple, Google, Amazon and Samsung) in the most popular mobile gaming segments. Titles to date include Bubble Blaze and Monster Legacy, a title which was selected by Apple’s app store to be featured as “Editors’ Choice” in 49 countries on its launch date in March. Outplay previously raised £2.5 million ($4.2 million) at an £8.5 million ($14.2 million) valuation this past April. The company will use the new funds to fully invest in the talent and resources it needs to deliver a full pipeline of planned global releases.
