Palladium Equity Partners has agreed to sell Sahale Snacks, a manufacturer and marketer of branded nut and fruit snacks, to The J. M. Smucker Company (NYSE: SJM). The deal, which is expected to close mid-September, includes a leased facility in Seattle and will add about 150 employees to Smucker. Sahale’s products are primarily sold in the U.S. under the Sahale Snacks brand and net sales are projected to be approximately $50 million for the 2014 calendar year.
Palladium has backed Sahale since 2007 and announced a follow-on investment in early 2012. The upcoming deal marks the second snack-related exit to a strategic buyer by the firm, which sold Wise Foods to Arca Continental in December 2012.
