Since the kickoff of the World Cup, we've taken a unique look at certain matchups, comparing countries based on PE and VC investment figures rather than the typical Xs and Os seen in most breakdowns. Added together, we counted almost 43,000 deals made in 29 of the 32 competing countries since the start of 2010, totaling roughly $1.5 trillion in invested capital. So far, two of the matches we've covered, Spain vs. the Netherlands and England vs. Italy, are in the books.
We have plenty more datagraphics in the pipeline, including PE and VC statistics covering the Switzerland vs. France and Belgium vs. Russia matches, both of which will be covered in Thursday's PitchBook newsletter. If you signed up for our World Cup Challenge, be sure to check our ESPN bracket throughout the tournament. The top entry wins six months of free access to PitchBook Mobile at the end of the tournament.
