87 companies in the Marketing industry have been involved in PE deals since the beginning of 2008, according to the PitchBook Platform. California is the top location for those companies, being home to 15, followed by Illinois with 14 and New York with 13. With 19 completed transactions so far, deal activity in the industry this year is on track to match 2009's deal count of 25. However, it is still far behind 2008's 46 deals. On the other hand, add-ons in the industry have followed a different trend and appear to be more popular with PE investors this year. So far in 2010, there have been 10 completed add-ons, more than double 2009's total and just three deals shy of 2008's.
