PE investors have completed 38 exits in the Food and Beverage industry since the beginning of 2009, according to the PitchBook Platform. Those investors were busy serving up exits last year, completing 26, up from only 8 in 2009. During both 2009 and 2010, exits in the industry were evenly split between sales to corporations and sales to other PE investors. This year, however, investors appear to be favoring sales to corporations, which has accounted for 3 of the 4 exits. Like exits, investment activity in the industry also experienced a rise, increasing from 33 completed deals in 2009 to 48 in 2010. Since the beginning of 2009, 83 PE investors have completed new investments in 90 companies in the industry. The most active of those investors include KPS Capital Partners (5 deals), Wind Point Partners (4), Catterton Partners (3) and Mistral Equity Partners (3).
