Since the beginning of 2009, 104 PE investors have invested in 106 companies primarily involved in the Consumer Media industry, according to the PitchBook Platform. Investment activity in the industry rose from 41 completed deals in 2009 to 52 in 2010. With 15 deals completed so far this year, 2011 is experiencing a similar deal pace to the last two years. PE investors appear to have a diverse interest in Consumer Media, as no one sector has dominated the industry's deal flow during recent years. Although the Publishing sector accounted for more deals than any other Consumer Media sector during 2009, the following year, it was overtaken by Movies, Music & Entertainment, which jumped to account for 31% of 2010's Consumer Media deal flow. This year, yet another sector has taken the number one spot: Information Services with a 40% share of 2011's deals to date.
