Planet Labs has announced a second close of its Series C funding on $118 million, generating a valuation of $1.13 billion; a first close of $95 million, which included a $25 million debt facility, was held in January. Capital from the round will allow Planet Labs to scale its satellite imaging solutions, support business development and sales, and develop its data products. The latest investment was led by International Finance Corporation. Previous investors in the round include Data Collective (which led the first close), DFJ, First Round Capital and Industry Ventures. 14 of Planet Labs' Dove satellites were launched to the International Space Station on SpaceX's resupply mission yesterday.
