“Gene-editing” startup Recombinetics has come up with a new way to find cures for life-threatening diseases: programming pigs’ genes. The St. Paul-based company has raised $250K from angel investors in its quest for a total of $2 million in Series A funds. Why use pigs? 91% of a pig's genetic makeup is the same as that of a human. This novel medical approach is currently helping researchers to develop new treatments for coronary artery disease and colon cancer.
