D-Wave Systems, a commercial quantum computing company, has raised $30 million in a venture financing round. Both new and existing investors participated, including Goldman Sachs, BDC Capital, Harris & Harris Group and DFJ. The company's mission is to integrate new discoveries in physics, engineering, manufacturing and computer science into breakthrough approaches to help solve the world's most complex challenges. The new funds will be used to accelerate software development and build a software application ecosystem. D-Wave has brought its quantum technology to companies and organizations including Lockheed Martin, NASA and Google.
