HCP & Company has acquired Career Training Academy through its second fund, Hispania Private Equity II. CTA 's CEO, Bill Rooney, partnered with HCP on the deal. CTA is a career school providing students with professional skills for careers in allied health. The school has three campuses located in the Pittsburgh suburbs.
Since the beginning of 2009, PE investors have invested in 88 companies primarily involved in the Educational and Training Services industry, according to the PitchBook Platform. Last year, 29 deals were completed, up from 22 during 2010. Investment activity in the industry has been relatively evenly spread across the different U.S. regions. The Southeast region has led the deal flow with a 26% share of the activity, followed by the Midwest with 19%.
