Since the beginning of 2007, PE investors have completed 482 deals in Software industry, according to the PitchBook Platform. In 2007, a PE boom year, investors closed 122 deals with a median deal size of $100 million. After that, the number of deals closed each year and corresponding median deal sizes slipped. The yearly deal count hit a low of 77 deals in 2009, while the median deal size hit a low of $22 million in 2008. In 2011, deal flow returned to a level near 2007's numbers, with investors closing 109 deals with a median deal size of $95 million. 2012 is off to a healthy start with 10 completed deals.
