Electra Private Equity has acquired The Original Bowling Company, the U.K.’s largest 10-pin bowling operator, for £91 million ($147 million). The deal, made alongside company management, included £51 million ($82 million) in equity. CBPE Capital reportedly saw a 2.4x cash-on-cash return on its significant minority investment of £20 million ($32 million) it had made in 2010. Debt facilities were provided by GE, Barclays and Lloyds. TOBC boasts 43 bowling centers under the Hollywood Bowl and AMF brands, predominantly located in leisure or retail parks. The company employs more than 1,400.
