While certain flashy verticals, such as AI and VR/AR, may seem to be all that venture investors are interested in nowadays, other niches are garnering notable amounts of VC investment, too. Take, for instance, marketing tech.
Since the beginning of last year, 692 VCs have participated in at least one of the 423 rounds involving marketing tech startups, according to the PitchBook Platform. Capital invested in such deals totaled just under $2 billion in 2015 and is trending toward a similar amount this year. Of the 241 venture investors that have been active in the past six months, 28 have completed at least two deals in that timeframe.
